Yesterday we took a taxi to St Kathrine where we stayed at the Monastery Guesthouse. We got up in the middle on the night and joined the throng of pilgrims, camels, and other travellers in climbing Mount Sinai. It was cold, dark, and hard going, but we got to the top in time to see a magnificent sunrise!
The trip down from Mount Sinai was along the 3750 Steps of Repentance.
Down the bottom of the stairs awaited the Saint Kathrine Monastery – the oldest Christian monastery in the world housing an interesting collection of old texts and a beautiful church.
